Kate Howard aka Connie Falconeri
Kate Howard came to General Hospital passing through
and was stranded when her car broke down in front
of Sonny Corinthos coffee house.
Kate went in to Sonny's office to request use of a phone,
but Sonny refused saying he was waiting for an important
call.
Kate tried to push Sonny using her influence as a high
powered editor of a popular New York women's fashion
magazine called Couture Magazine.
Sonny's curiosity was peaked when he thought he
recognized something familiar with Kate. After
much toying with her which frustrated Kate to no
end, Sonny finally recognized her as one of the
girls from his past.
Apparently when they were teenagers, Sonny was supposed
to run away with Connie Falconeri, who stood him up.
Connie confessed she was the girl from his past
and told Sonny she was no longer Constanza Louise
Falconeri, that she wanted to make something of
herself and gave up her old identity when she was
18 years old to become Kate Howard. She chose that
name because of Catherine Howard who was the 5th
wife of Henry VIII because it sounded like an
easily recognizable name.
Connie and Sonny grew up in Bensonhurst, New York,
where Connie worked in a bakery called Harvey's
during her teen years when she was seeing Sonny.
After her romance with Sonny, Connie attended
Princeton University before becoming editor of
Couture Magazine.Kate Howard became a woman who would do anything
to forget her past as Connie and Coney Island, and
do anything to achieve her lofty goals of becoming
someone special.
She landed a job as an entry level editor after college,
but still needed someone or something to "push her
to the top".
That push came in the form of one of Sonny's relatives,
Trevor Lansing. Kate befriended Trevor who was a man of
considerable power and fame and means about Manhattan.
In return for Trevor showing her the ropes, introducing
her to high society and the ways of society, Kate
became his mistress sleeping with him whenever
Trevor felt the need. The affair lasted for 5 years
until they finally parted.
Back to Port Charles:
When Kate was in Sonny's office he stole her flash
drive (or she left it purposely) so that Kate would
have to come back.
Soon Kate is found to have bought the house next
door to Sonny where she starts to fly helicopters in.
sonny asks his attorney Diane Miller to get an injunction
preventing Kate from flying helicopters over his
house, which upsets Kate to no end.
When Kate disobeys and flies in a rare statue,
Sonny has Jason shoot the statue down which goes
through Kate's roof. Kate then goes through the roof
irate at Sonny.
In the meantime Michael and Morgan go fishing in
Kate's pond and kill one of her prized Koi fish,
which leads to an argument with Sonny and then with
his former wife, Carly Corinthos Jaxs. Carly is not
impressed at all with Kate and her high class
demeanor, and Kate is not impressed with Carly's
trailer park attitude.
Sonny asks Carly to get a replica statue and
Carly gets a hideous statue nothing like the one
Kate had delivered to Kate's house. Kate sends it
to Sonny's house where she goes to see Sonny and accidentally
bumps her head on the statue. Sonny takes over and
makes Kate stay all night, which Kate seems to
enjoy, but they don't have making love.
Carly and Kate have another encounter when Kate goes
to the Metro Court and is woed by Carly's husband
Jasper Jaxs.
Soon Kate is finding herself falling back in love
with Sonny, which makes Carly jealous.
Next Kate is worried about the tabloids reporting
that she and a reputed mob boss are having an affair
so tries to get Sonny to have a public affair with
Amelia Joffe, producer of Everyday Heroes so the
paparazzi won't write stories about Kate and Sonny.
However Kate finds out the truth about Sonny's real
lifestyle when she overhears him threatening to tear
Jerry Jax's heart out if he ever comes near Michael
and Morgan again.
Kate and Sonny grew closer and closer, but one night
Sonny upset her and Kate got a little wild behind the
wheel, side-scraping a Port Charles Police Squad Car.
Ric Lansing, Acting D.A., not knowing her past with his dad
Trevor, had Kate arrested and was going to go through
with the charges despite Kate's pleas and attempts at
bargaining.
Trevor Lansing showed up at Kate's door, under the
premise that he was there to help "an old friend".
Trevor had become a most powerful attorney working for
New York City mob boss Anthony Zacchara. While he
did stiff arm Ric to drop the charges, Trevor's real
reason for being in Port Charles was to open the way
for Zacchara to take over Sonny's territory.
When Sonny realized that Kate and Trevor were old lovers
he double flip flopped, especially since Trevor had been
a former lover of Sonny's mother Adela. Trevor had told
Adela either she give up her young child Sonny, or else
she give him up. Adela chose to keep Sonny, which caused
Trevor to hate Sonny even more.
When Kate realized exactly who Sonny and Trevor were
she was torn, but by fate ended up siding with Sonny,
which meant Katherine was now on the bad side of one
of the most powerful men in New York, Trevor Lansing.
Kate is scared spitless he will expose her past to the
public as Connie Falconari which Kate believes if that
comes out all her work at Couture will be washed down
the drain and she will be ruined.
Kate Howard's first appearance on General Hospital was
on May 04, 2007. She is played by Megan Marie Ward.
In real history, February 13 in 1542 the fifth wife of England's
King Henry VIII, Catherine Howard was executed for
adultery.
