Cooper Barrett is played by Jason Gerhardt, (2007-present)

Jason Gerhardt was born in Austin, Minnesota.

Jason's first acting role was as Santa Claus in his
elementary school's play, The North Pole Goes
Rock-n-Roll.

Even though he didn't have much interest in acting during
high school he attended the University of Wisconsin
hoping to become an investment banker. During this
time he started modeling and commercial acting to earn
money for college expenses.

After getting a degree in accounting, Jason went to
Kansas City where he met his future with Chalae.

When he was cut from his job by corporate downsizing,
Jason knew it was time to pursue what was in his heart,
an acting career.

Jason tried the New York scene, but that didn't work
too well, then he and his wife, pregnant with their first
child moved to L.A. where Jason met his agent and acting
coach who got him an interview with General Hospital.

Jason's interview was for a character named Logan, but
while GH didn't like him for that part, they did create
a new character, Cooper Barrett and asked Jason to fill
the roll.
