The Ice Princess


A dashing young Australian came on General Hospital
in 1981 as Robert Scorpio. Robert's first encounter was
with Luke Spencer as he was wanting to know about the
Ice Princess.

Laura come into the picture when she dined Scorpio provoking
Luke's jealousy, which only allowed Laura to continue to let
Robert show her around town.

Luke learned from Edward Quartermaine the Ice Princess was a
statuette and agreed to help the Quartermaines find it. Robert
wanted the Ice Princess also and offered Luke $50,000 for it.

The Ice Princess was painted black by Alexandria
Quartermaine and just looked like an ugly statuette.
Alexandria had it shipped from Rio de Jeneiro to Port
Charles but it was stolen upon arrival.

Emma Lutz came upon the Ice Princess and gave it to Lila
Quartermaine who planned to auction it off to benefit General
Hospital.

Robert told Luke that the Ice Princess contained a secret that
would cause cataclysmic global problems. The secret was for
a powerful weapon which could destroy the world.

Luke wanted to impress Laura by stealing the statuette and
planned with just about everyone else in Port Charles
to steal it on the night of the auction.

On the night before the auction Luke took Laura out
on the town and ended up proposing marriage which a
gleeful Laura accepted.

At the auction the lights went out and when they came back on,
the Ice Princess was gone, along with Luke.

Weeks later when Luke surfaced he swore he didn't have the
Ice Princess. What happened was that Alexandria working
with Tony Cassadine stole the statuette and also
re-kindled their love affair with each other in the process.

Robert finally revealed to Luke and Laura he was a secret agent
working to keep the secret of the Ice Princess from falling into
the wrong hands. Working with Scorpio was his fellow agent
"Sonny" O'Reilly, and elderly woman. O'Reilly watched the
Cassadine yacht and during a shoot out at the docks, was shot
and killed. Scorpio vowed revenge on the Cassadines.

Luke and Robert then boarded the yacht as stow aways, much
to their surprise, they later found Laura who had the same plan.

Waiting for the diamond to arrive at his underground command
center was Mikkos Cassadine along with several other world
leaders and Actress Tiffany Hill who had came with her
playmate Victor Cassadine. Tiffany was shocked and appalled
at Mikkos' plan.

His plan was to assemble a massive weather machine which
would freeze the world. His plan was to first freeze a
test city, Port Charles. Meanwhile Luke and Laura were
enjoying the paradise above ground by making love at an oasis.

Robert ran off and managed to run into Tiffany, instantly were
attracted to each other. This attraction caused Tiffany
to defect from the Cassadine plans and help Robert.
They planned to break in to the compound
and destroy the weather machine.

Luke and Laura figured Scorpio had abandoned them and decided
to take matters into their own hands. They entered the
underground fortress through an air duct.

Meanwhile temperatures began dropping in Port Charles.

Inside, Luke and Laura discovered the frozen bodies of Max,
Noel, Alex and Tony. Soon they were captured and brought before
Mikkos, who also held Scorpio as prisoner.

Luke pretended to side with Mikkos and convinced him he could
get the World Security Bureau to cooperate with him. Mikkos
allowed him to do a radio transmission, but Luke started to drop
hints as to their where abouts and in the middle of "We're
located somewhere off the coast of Ven...." Mikkos stopped the
transmission and made a lunge for Luke to throw him in the
ice chamber.

Too bad for Mikkos, he slipped and fell into the ice chamber
which instantly froze him.

Luke tried desperately to unlock the ice machine as Port
Charles grew colder and colder. Luke finally entered the
word  Ice Princess  in the computer which was the password and
the weather machine shut down.

Luke, Laura and Robert had saved Port Charles and the world
from being frozen. It was time for Luke and Laura to return
home and plan a wedding.

In reality, the Ice Princess was more than just a statuette.
It was the world's largest uncut diamond with a secret
formula at it's base.
